Like someone in the replies said, her filmography is pretty small and is only involved in a few small major franchises. You're probably dealing with some crazy coincidence.
Disagree with that last one vehemently. I argue that Jim Carrey earlier in his career was what he was usually hired for and then later in his career (barring sonic of course) he was hired as a serious actor.
Man on the Moon, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, the Number 23. He has more range.
That is NOT Shrek. Why do they look like that…? They literally have them in the same style as the original films in the DreamWorks logo sequence! Why are they doing this like they tried to do to Sonic…?!
This is going to be awful especially now that everything has to be "wholesome" and "kid friendly". The original Shrek movies were full of adult humor -- IE the white bronco crack in Shrek 2 was a shameless reference to when OJ Simpson fled from the cops after Nicole Brown Simpson's murder.
I wanna say it's the eyes and skin texturing. Something just seems lifeless, like they replaced all the facial gestures with the same vault of recycled lip and eye animations as the past decade's worth of assets. It just looks identical to a lot of other Disney garbage out there now.
It’s not anti-art, this isn’t about the creative direction. Shrek was one of the earliest CGI movies and there are elements that are stilted and have dated. Like early Pixar.
The new style has more fluidity, and even if that makes it more “Disney” - those are the movies it’s parodying, so it works.
Sure, the actual quality of the animation itself is higher. I never claimed that it wasn't.
But as someone, as you yourself have pointed out, who was not around to see it immediately upon release, I am aware that there is a stark difference between production quality and artistic style.
Puss in Boots got a really good glowup from oldest to newest animations, but I can't feel the same thing happened to Shrek, I don't know why, but it seems... Uncanny... I dunno.
Well I know Tom Hanks has done other things like star in that Mister Rogers movie a while back & last I heard of Tim Allen, he got cancelled a while back for openly supporting certain people.
With Mike Myers though, he's just been publicly in the dark for me so I have no idea what he's been up to.
Mike going dark might have something to do with Cat in the Hat, I heard that behind the scenes he kinda just went full “Ellen” and he would fire people just for making eye contact and he was just overall being a dick to work with.
First thought was why?!! but after a few minutes it’s warmed on me. Puss In Boots 2 animation was different to the first but that movie was great. This looks great.

The animation looks as good as Puss in Boots: The Last Wish but I'm mixed on Fiona's character design

🎶 Hey, I'm allstar... Dede 🎶
She's becoming the new Jack Black
It's like he doesn't play characters, anymore, he's just hired to come in and be Jack Black.
Jim Carrey too.
Man on the Moon, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, the Number 23. He has more range.
they can scrap this & redo it.
I'm passing on this till I see it out to see if my gut is right
This looks a lot better.
Especially considering your bio 😕
This new style is sterile, Disney/Pixar esque and has no charm of the older style.
Sure, it's higher polygon and pixel count, but don't think that's the criteria for looking "Better".

Your head is starting to stink, maybe it's time you pull it out of your ass.
I've heard nothing recent about him for a long time till now.
With Mike Myers though, he's just been publicly in the dark for me so I have no idea what he's been up to.
Shrek is gonna hate him until he accepts him at the end of the movie to be part of the family.
tho pinocchio looks fantastic
