So far Bluesky seems like a nice space to connect with other tattoo artists and creatives. However for it to be a real alternative to IG for me I have to be able to reach potential clients in my area. It’s a bit much to keep up another platform if not. Yeah maybe with time. I just wonder about the local aspect of it all, because it’s necessary as a tattoo artist, but I don’t think it’s a goal of the app to connect people locally. But maybe with time it comes naturally

I found Starter Packs on https://blueskydirectory.com that focus on locals to where I live. I add/follow locals.
Social media has never been a big client draw for me. Most of my clients are referrals from past clients, community interactions, google/my website. Old school stuff.

Ah I see. For me 90% of my clients are from ig, maybe 5% from tiktok lol.. so I rely on it a lot. Thank you, I didn’t know about that, I will have a browse around! Or maybe I have to start my own Berlin starter pack

in the meantime, im using this time to build community with artists! a lot of us are here before clients are and im finding so many other handpoke ppl i never would have seen on instagram 💗 it's neat and inspiring

Not yet. But ig is a hellscape of ai curated feeds. It no longer works for artists, just exploits them. The only way for Bluesky to gain traction and lure people away from the metaverse is for us to use this.
I would be very surprised if ig is actually doing anything to get you new clients.

I wouldn’t say it does anything for me, but still 90% of my clients have found me through IG. But definitely getting harder to reach new people there as well and there’s just too much content and too much shitty content.. hopefully bluesky will turn out to be a real alternative

Not so far but I'm thinking it's very US centric atm. I'm hoping that will change. I've got to do something to divest from META 💀😭
