I turned up with cash and he said, "Don't worry, I bill the label directly". I spent it in that wonderfully dodgy record shop in Hanway Place (?) on scruffy, hard-vinyl dub plates and New York Dolls bootlegs.

The maddest thing ever is that that was perfectly normal.

'kinell, it was >40 years ago and I don't really recall the granular detail. I think we then went to the food stall at what is now the firestation for noodles, wanton soup, and wine smuggled past the licensing laws in a Chinese teapot.
