SLS is dead.
Boeing issued notifications as part of the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, which requires US employers with 100 or more full-time employees to provide a 60-day notice in advance of mass layoffs or plant closings.

As events have unfolded the past 2 wks, I was worried this was possible for several reasons. I wouldn’t be surprised, but this would be a massive hit for so many hardworking teams 😔

If a budget gets passed, NASA’s budget will be a good litmus test for this admin (same, MUCH higher, or MUCH lower)

Part of me almost suspects this is on purpose, as Starship still has a number of hurdles to overcome, and at a minimum they stood very little chance of meeting the Artemis III schedule. Elon may not have wanted to take that bad PR.

So if we go all in on Starship considering the current scale and expansion going on in Tx&Fl how long does it take to scale the program to actually work? Optimisticly maybe 5 years, 4 with the power to do anything you want i guess.

Missing the point , use what you have first before the other thing is ready. Cancelling SLS is throwing the baby and the bathwater out. The booster works. It sent Orion around the Moon on its first flight. Starship has yet to deliver one payload to orbit after 7 flights. Use what you have now.

I wasn't arguing for it seriously it was meant more to show even with an optimistic outcome its not worth it even in the name of going faster. I agree SLS works and can work fiscally if NASA had competent capital allocation and SLS gets contracts renegotiated to FFP with a Block buy
