That's coz there's no rucks. No contact. Everyone is scared to give away a penalty. It's all about position. That's why the try points were put up from 3 to 4 to 5. Coz there ain't none anymore. Especially in internationals.
Not sure we're watching the same games. Definitely the game has changed but there are plenty of tries in most of the games I watch these days. Hope the six nations gives a few good games
England once scored a total of ONE try in a world cup 1/4, semi and final. Winning the first two but losing the final. The union game is more like league every year. And don't start me on lifting...

Ha ha fair. I totally get that. There's a lot about the modern game I don't love to be honest. Unfortunately that might just be England! France and NZ are still great to watch. England and South Africa do tend to win on a simpler set piece orientated game plan 👍
Yes, a much more exciting game now. There will always be gripes/tweaks/changes, but in general the recent changes to the game have inspired more dynamic, creative play than the old than kick and maul drudgery.
That's why they put try points up to 4, then 5, from 3 in my "youth". That is because there are much fewer tries now. You barely saw a penalty in the day.
