Siena can be considered the birthplace of western art, as explained in the current exhibition in London's National Gallery. I started my exploration of Sienese art yesterday in the cathedral museum and have continued this morning in the Pinacoteca Nazionale di Siena.
In Siena over the past two days, I've found a few signs saying an artwork is on loan to London's National Gallery. As only one has gone per location, this hardly detracts from what's left. But these places in Siena have been empty, but when I went to the Siena exhibition in London, it was packed.
