Gerrymandering through the rest of the state means us lefties in mostly rural districts are vastly outnumbered and get garbage people like tenney (that’s my district and i’m so sorry)

Which then of course means that for some reason the dems decide to go moderate to appeal to the rural districts and gain numbers, which has just about never worked, and then it all spirals and we get to this point

It’s the money. The Dem establishment in NY is nearly impossible to break into without the big financial backers- and ofc they back shitty sellout people who work for THEM first.

For voters, it’s the “lesser of two evils” and “name recognition” game played out every single time.

Also- in the northeast in general, name recognition and history in office carry more weight than they should. It’s almost impossible to unseat a Senate or Gov incumbent- even when they suck. People vote for the one they know and inertia takes over until we hit term limits or someone steps down

I wonder if it's because it is reliably blue. As long as they have that (D) after their name they're almost guaranteed to win... Means they don't have to fight for anything.
