It is in person, and I am not 100% sure if there are restrictions on non-US students or not. There is also a -lot- of material online, e.g. https://ncar.github.io/CESM-Tutorial/README.html. Noting also the the https://github.com/NorESMhub/NorESM runs with the exact same scripting setup as CESM but can talk to you on the same timezone and receive EU funding ;)
