2. That all it takes is "saying the wrong thing" just once, and their jobs are ruined, their reputations ruined, their social lives ruined. And all because they weren't up on the latest "woke lingo," or "pronouns," or whatever.

3. And this breeds resentment, and these people start looking somewhere - anywhere - for something that will relieve their anxiety. For someone who is saying, "It's OK, there's nothing wrong with you, you're the sane one, it's the world that has gone crazy."

4. It began with the "anti-PC" radio jocks, the Rush Limbaughs, then Fox News. "They're making you feel bad for who you are. It's not your fault. Your failures are not your fault. The world has turned against you. You are now the oppressed."

5. They say, "Civil Rights and Women's Lib were fine and good when there was real inequality, but now we've solved racism and sexism, and, not satisfied with equality, they want to go after YOU, make YOU feel bad for being straight/white/male and there's a whole agenda designed to do just that."

6. And as more Republicans began winning more elections in formerly purple states and formerly purple districts by playing off of this anxiety, the entire soul of the GOP was lost. But they didn't care, because of power. First they won over the highland South - formerly purple TN, KY, MO.

7. Then came the Rust Belt and the rural Midwest - OH, IA, western WI, rural MN. Finally, anywhere that was rural and white - ME-02 for example. The Republican Party pushed harder with this strategy - with the TEA Party and then MAGA - as a magic potion...
