Last night we saw why the #Habs leadership kept talking about being in the mix. Their intention, which they ultimately delivered on, was to add a scoring forward. Who knows what the season would have looked like if Laine hadn’t been injured. He doesn’t fix all, but he fixes some.

That’s one large second line, and Slafkovsky was very strong last night. If Slaf can be consistent and Dach can find his game, that can be a great line. #Habs

@bwildemtl.bsky.social makes a great point. The success of the second line, however it is composed, only helps the first. A successful team needs a complete top six. If the opposition has just one legit threat to defend against, that’s not a formula to win. #Habs

I would prefer to see Slaf moved to top line and Heineman on second line as he plays a good 200 foot game and will fit better as is being groomed more as a third line player 🤔.

I see that eventually, but I’d give the trio of giants a few more games before messing with them. Heineman has earned more for sure.

Great read Lori. They looked much better last night. Heinemen on top line might be worth a look and someone in Dach’s place might help out as well. Let’s see what the brain trust does.
