Would you rather they left empty-handed? As a dv survivor, I can tell you I had a go bag ready and hidden for years. Different scenario of course, but when you have limited time to leave you don’t want to be searching for valuable paperwork.

S.J. I totally understand the concept. I lived aboard a sailboat and had a ditch bag. I lived in hurricane and tornado prone states and had emergency go bags, still do. My comment/concern is that many have nowhere to run nor financial means to do so.
Oh without a doubt. It’s why asking a victim of dv why they stay is ridiculous.The better question is: How can I help you leave? And I think between climate change and ICE there is going to be a lot of people facing sudden homelessness. Finding and donating to orgs that help is a start.
