Honestly, for me, it’s been a week since I’ve limited myself to only buying essentials. This will continue for an indefinite time period. It crushes my shopper’s soul but I felt it to be necessary with everything that’s going on.
It will demonstrate an economic glitch. It’s not meant to be the end all; purely a flex. If we all plan ahead it’s an easy thing to do. Next steps will follow.
Don't go to work, call in sick or take a vacation day. If you want to shut down the economy, you have to shut businesses/corporations down. Bring everything to a stop. That's how you show power.
Can people not plan ahead and 'get the essentials" before the Economic Blackout? How hard can it possibly be to fill your car tank with gas, buy a few groceries, make sure your heating/electricity bill is paid by the 27th, and honker down on 2/28/25? 🤷
And what exactly is this going to accomplish? Do you think Exxon or Amazon is going to care that you bought something from them on 2/27 or 3/1 and not on 2/28?
Don't be stupid. One day does nothing.
Boycotts and protests are not one day events. They are every day events carried out until a rogue business has been financially crushed or a political party has been put in it's place.
We have power every day, not just one day!
The enemy will remain tomorrow
We cannot not buy everyday. We have to buy groceries, buy other products, medicines, buy gifts for near and dear.
Total boycott one day and boycott certain businesses other days.
Then find a seller who shares your values and spend your money there, even if it costs more.
Believe me, we will have nothing left if we keep handing money and power to these people.
I am getting a manicure that day. Probably get dog treats from a local pet food store and/or local market. Maybe a video game from a local retro game store.
People cannot afford to do year around. In India, they do Bandh; “bandh is a form of protest in India where people stop working & close businesses to express disagreement”
If people cooperated, it sends a message.
People need to act; not just do Social Media!
dumped FB, tap’d-out of UFC, ‘X’d out, tesla lease gone, not interested in Mars – going out feet-first on the blue marble… and no Idol or Voice, going with COSTCO !

We need a leader that understands
Is the boycott o. The 27 or the 28th?

A month-end/quarter end close that shows sustained effort not to buy.
You don't brush your teeth only one day a year and expect to keep them.
Consistency matters.

Secondly, I agree. I am just saying buy ONLY the essentials, no luxury purchases for at least a month/ quarter.
