This exactly. The archaeological evidence has always shown us diverse communities, it's the interpretation that has narrowed our ideas. That's changing now as we stop only seeing what we look for.

Just to be clear, 'the good old days' never existed either -- things have always been hard, and we've got a lot of progress to be thankful for (not least flushable toilets!).
