As my dad used to say to me in high school: I’m disappointed but not surprised. Fetterman’s base is the working class which has abandoned the Dems and embraced Trump’s GOP. Coupled with the fact that Trump won PA with over 50% of the vote last year, Fetterman is representing his constituents
Do you think he was always like this and was pretending to be a progressive to get elected or do you think he saw the amount of money and immediately sold out?
From an outsider, meaning not living in the state.. looking in. Between this and Sinema.. How do we vet these ppl better, cause they say the right things.. then once in office take off the sheep's outfit to showcase they are a wolve.
Being in Congress is cushy. Incumbents become addicted to the prestige n' perks. Sadly, most will morph their views to stay abreast of their constituents.
I blame our structure. Most democracies are not duopolies which drown out other voices. A plurality of voters are not partisans.
The republic suffered irreparable harm from Citizens United. The worst abuse perpetrated by the Supremes . . . until last year’s Presidential Immunity fiasco.
The balancing function of the judiciary is now neutered.
The GOP during the Bush years realized how to rig the courts in their favor and set about doing just that. Now we are witnessing the results of their handy work. Why Biden didn't expand SCOTUS to 13 to balance the court I wondered.
Honestly I haven't been more disappointed in a politician in... Ever, I guess. I'm not a "I had reservations about him all along" guy, I bought the hype. I thought he was a cool, no-bullshit "outsider" with real community roots. Now he's a Zionist puke. No more 'good' politicians for me.
I supported Conor Lamb, but he got in the race too late. Fetterman already had a large social media presence and was popular in PA. However, there was the shotgun incident, and he was less than honest about his health issues, both physical and mental.
The Republicans pander to their base, the dems punish theirs.
You can campaign on progressive values if it will get you votes but if you try to push policy they go at you like rashida tlaib, ilhan Omar, and this will sound off, but Al Franken too.
He’s always been a belligerent boor. I voted for him in the general, but voted for Malcolm Kenyatta in the primary. I’m starting to think Connor Lamb would have been better.
We so badly wanted a progressive firebrand and especially one that fits an unconventional mold. He pandered to beat Oz but he was never that guy. And now we're likely getting Oz in the white house anyway.
The sad fact is the left needs more heroes to follow, like you, Sam and Hasan.

Why do we keep having to suffer these fools?

Money.
They all are addicted to it and will say and do anything to get and keep it.
It's why Dems hate progressives, because we see money as a means to an end, not the goal.
DSA is probably our best hope for the immediate future.
