Many are confirming that much of the current hell brought on by this administration is not legal, and the courts will fight back. But I'm finding little solace in this--because isn't the Supreme Court compromised and will rule in Elon/Trump's favor?

I have similar worries. They will try. We have to keep up the public pressure that tells reps they work for us and this is their only priority. We are nowhere near the level of sustained pressure needed, but even this is showing results.
I am concerned that the legal structure is far too slow for how quickly the Derp Reich is trying to nuke our government. You can’t undo a lot of damage that’s already occurred.
As I learned from studying suffragists and other civil/human rights movements, each win adds up. What we're enduring is not the same as what disenfranchised women and Blacks endured, and yet they still prevailed. We have to keep our eyes on the prize. We have to mobilize in great numbers.
The SC only hears a couple dozen cases a year. Right now it's just about slowing the damage. The courts won't save us, but they will help until midterms and 2028.
Yes. When the pitchforks and torches come out in protest as a result (‘democracy is under attack!’), that could be reason for declaring martial law and consolidating power to the president like no one has ever seen before. Oh wait, 1933 Germany…
Not necessarily. They have ruled against him in the past. Roberts, Kavanaugh, Barrett, and Gorsusch have all joined with the more liberal side on various issues. So it varies. Alito and Thomas are his of course. We have Sotomayor, Kagan, and Jackson.
However, MOST of the decisions will be at the appellate level, not SCOTUS, which is what most people are missing out on. Watch those more closely. That’s where the real fighting will be. Follow @democracydocket for the best coverage.
Very good question and I have no idea what the answer would be. Somebody somewhere is going to have to find that missing cabinet of spines and ‘man up’. I fully expect, no offense, that it will be predominantly women who do so. We are, after all, the ones doing most of the work & the most to lose.
The risk is more that he will ignore the rulings of the Supreme Court. I mean we know they are a very right wing court, and won't do everything we want, but most are not trumpists, they predate and will postdate him. Yet the only response to a president ignoring the court is impeachment and
Not to mention that when the administration inevitably defies federal judge rulings, the only mechanism by which they can be held accountable are the US Marshals; who are under the control of the Executive Branch. Welcome to the Imperial Presidency.

Real tipping point is when Trump defies one of those decisions against him. That’s when manning the barricades is all that’s left.

educate everyone you know about who to vote for and why
1. Fines; which we all know will not be felt or just ignored.
2. Ruling of contempt of court and judge ordering arrests. The problem with this is that order goes to the US Marshals; under control of the Nazis.
And sure, he has votes. But a FedSoc judge also shut him down yesterday so 🤷🏻♀️
Guess the alternative is to not even try to fight and I’m not cool w that
