I was a very "big city boy" until about age 19. When I discovered wilderness and deep forest solitude, I realized what had been missing in my life and have never wanted anything else. When the time comes, even my ashes will be scattered among the ferns and huckleberries, under an old cedar. ;)
A note of caution: Advise those responsible for the ocean scattering to Check The Wind Direction! The last time I attended one at sea, everyone on board the boat ended up covered in ash. ;) On the bright side, everyone had a really good laugh and that really offset the sadness of the occasion. ;)
My friend had a similar experience – the woman scattering the ashes was downwind, navigating wet, rocky seaweed-covered boulders in high heels. Quite a scene!
