In the case of booze, I'm hoping Canada will lift interprovincial trade barriers and wines etc. from all provinces can be bought in all provinces.

We'd have to have a collective agreement to toil all of us for a bit, even politicians and big companies, to make our countries a nest for development and common comfort, but everyone wants to be told "YOU did it" rather than "we did it". We all want to live like kings.
In Canada, we have been stuck between the conservatives and liberals for decades, and we are still coming back to them as soon as someone else than them steps out of line as they gather a little more attention to then just lose it like that. Still sucking up to the same guys after decades, though.

I do think there is an underlying feeling here that, if we elect a new President in 4 years, everything will go back to normal. But, it won’t. Every former ally will look at us like, “You did it once (actually twice) before, why should we believe you won’t do it again?”

I believe you are correct. The damage has been done and the US's allies are angry that they were betrayed by the US. It'll take a really long time to regain the trust that has been broken.
