This feels much better to me right off the bat at least. I know I played VI on launch and was not enjoying myself at all, the fact that there's already a lot to enjoy despite the problems is a good sign, but that's obviously different for everyone.
For one, I do like how big everything feels. From the map to the fact it's split into distinct ages, it feels more immersive (in a way). City growth makes more sense to me and districts aren't super limited anymore.
Cities can automatically make improvements when they grow now, and workers don't even exist, and you can build multiple things on one tile (not too many obviously) so you don't have to micromanage your zoning constantly.
There's also a lot of smaller mechanical changes that I quite enjoy, like the way they handle cities and towns, and that city states feel like more of a presence than in previous games where they just kind of exist to give you bonuses.
