There’s an irony to this question, in that there are plenty of Cdns who have repeatedly gone south for novavax because of limited (past years) or no (this year) availability.
Unfortunately I don’t actually know the answer to your question, I only know how gatekept our vaccines have been in general 😕

Because I still talk about Covid out loud I have heard dozens of stories from people whose doctors told them they didn't need to get an updated Covid shot, or their kids didn't need one, or even, in a few cases, that the side effects weren't worth it. The minimizing runs deep, y'all.

Then there are entire counties that have banned masks altogether. Look at Nassau County Long Island. A Republican strong hold. Masking in public is illegal & getting an exemption to -wear- a mask is difficult. They believe it will “cut down on crime”. I believe it’s to own the libs & exert power.

I successfully convinced some people to get fall booster by telling them how Novavax uses the same tech as a flu shot and has similarly minimal side effects. "If you're getting your flu shot anyway, get that as well so you don't ruin the holidays." I think that's the best messaging to go for now.

Every covid booster makes me "sick" for 2 days and people aren't given time off to manage the immune response. That's a real barrier for people to get their boosters.

Agreed and haring for general knowledge but I too had fairly severe side effects with mRNA vax, but had none with novavax. My last 2 boosters were both novavax and I did not have to take any time at all to recover. OTOH if you are doing Shingrix for shingles, give yourself a day.

40% is around the uptake for the flu vaccine, so I don't know that it's all that surprising.

I do think the conservative campaign against vaccination has been harmful, but as more vaccinations and exposures occur we are at least as a population normalizing.

I guess I'm fortunate. My CA Kaiser Permanente insurance offers vaccines to me. The latest Covid booster✔️ the new flu vaccine✔️My Pneumonia vaccine booster✔️ In six weeks I will return for my RSV vaccine. I'm 68, I have asthma. I want to survive a respiratory illness more than I fear vaccines.

It is so depressing. We were among the first to get ours, as volunteers at vaccine clinics for at-risk communities early in the pandemic. Remain fully vaccinated, with boosters, to this day. Vaccines save lives.
