Do we know the actual distribution of wages? Means & averages can be awfully misleading if just a few in the extreme upper percentile make significantly more than the majority.

The salaries/hourly wages are on a pay scale and everyone gets paid the same rate nationwide and the step increases are the same length of time for everyone. The Postal Service is seniority based.
I guess time on the job would be needed too. I assume if you started these jobs years ago when they were great you’re invested & and are towards the upper end of the spectrum. Now turnover may be high which bloats entry level numbers. See what I mean? The averages are possibly skewed.
Been a carrier since 1993. We are very top heavy right now too. Over 60% of our career workforce is over the age of 50. I'm retiring in May after 32 years. The main problem is the new hires are non-career and don't get benefits for the first 2 years......if they make it that long.
That would explain why there’s increasing complaints of inadequate pay/benefits. To me anyway. I’ve no idea about that industry. I was just replying to the post sharing a pay scale chart. To say the original poster was lying based on that chart doesn’t explain the pertinent info. IMO
How many are actually receiving that pay? Top heavy vs entry level will give a nice avg. But is anyone actually getting that? Or is it 60% earn what working 30 years on the job pays while 40% are earning entry level? The average is good but how many people is that?

That's $42,140/year.
It's only poverty if there are more than SIX people in your household.
THAT is the lie.
