tbh I think Harris was just extremely unpopular. When she ran in 2020 she had to drop out before the primary because she had the support of less than 1% of voters. She didn't do any favors by allowing Trump to set the tone for the election and just responding to him and his policies.
I disagree for a number of reasons. The margin is only 1.5%. No one votes Democrat down the ticket and then votes Trump. He won based on bullet ballots, remarkably higher % of those only in swing states.
Michigan is an easy one. Harris lost the Muslim vote because of Democrats' complicity in genocide. Rashida Tlaib won reelection in a landslide. She is Palestinian and has been trying to get Dems to issue an arms embargo in exchange for a ceasefire, which most Dems have voted against repeatedly.
AOC's district voted for her for house and Trump for president. She surveyed her supporters as to why, and they said because they feel AOC and Trump both care about and listen to the working class.
These red and blue graphics are so misleading because you would think all the residents are Republicans or Democrat, when they are more closely divided just like the country as a whole.

The actual answer seems to be a lot of people voting for Trump and only Trump (leaving the rest of the ballot blank) so he got more votes than other Republicans down ballot.
Harris tied or did better than Biden in the swing states. White voters surged in the swing states, putting Trump over the top. Meanwhile millions of blue state voters shrugged this election off.
I do not for a minute believe that Trump was more popular this time around. A recount should be done when you are up against known chronic cheaters whose every accusation is a confession.
There was an inflated percentage of Trump bullet ballot votes in the swing states in this election, yes...the average is usually around 1% or less overall, but in AZ it was over 7%, in NV over 5%, in NC 11%...see where this is going?

In elections, when 0.8% (2 voted per precinct in Wisconsin) is the margin a candidate wins by a protest vote ignores the bigger picture. Vote for the person closest to your position because they’re easier to persuade. Not voting or voting for third party is the same as voting for whoever wins.

Agreed that the number of bullet ballots made no sense at all. In NV, supposedly 5.5 percent of the ballots cast for trump alone, although we had a hotly contested Senate race on the ballot as well. Numbers are higher in other states, like PA. Makes no sense.
