£126bn and 2.4 million people.
That’s the size of the creative industries in the UK and every DCMS Minister has had to fight HMT and Number 10 over support.
That’s about 10x the size of the motor industry and 4 x more productive.
Fishing? Less than £500 million.

UK WRITERS: You need to fill in this consulation. Govt is very clearly looking to an opt-out model of rights licensing that puts all the burden on creators instead of profiteers. It's long and boring but this is important.

I have lost count of the number of DCMS sectors thrown under the bus by bright wheezes and desperation from other departments.
Depressing to see the eternal recurrence again.
In my naivety, I’m puzzled why a party that was historically close to the UK creative sector would throw us under the bus like this. Surely eg AI tax gains won’t compensate?
Sigh.
