When my dad went into the nursing home, Medicaid paid for the amount that his salary didn’t cover. He worked his whole life teaching and coaching with part-time jobs in the summer. He retired at age 70. A lot of people don’t understand all that Medicaid does and think of it as a free handout.

If my medicaid is removed, it is quite literally a death sentence. I am totally and permanently disabled and survive on $1848 a month. I have no family. Just one medication is $4500 monthly; another is $1000.
