average experience when working on larger projects

i also constantly tell myself "i should really write some documentation" and i never do it so i always stare at the screen if i haven't touched the project for a while like "wtf was i thinking" xD

FWIW, In situations like this I sometimes just create compound keys out of the nested map's keys. Eg {"foo-bar-baz": ["bonk"]} instead of {foo: {bar: {baz: ["bonk"]}}}

I had to do a lot of manipulation and transforming data to that format and then I had to iterate over it..so I ended up creating data classes because duck that 🥹
