Beats me why Israel hasn't been banned - from anything. Or why players on opposing teams continue to play against them. Or why punters just don't go. Once the money stops flowing, maybe they'll get the picture?
Hi Jonathan, I was enjoying your article about sport taking a stand against Israel - but I wondered whether you had seen this from Double Down News when I saw your line about the Maccabi Tel Aviv fans? https://youtu.be/DvTyg1kJGzM?si=akNJAtAUjow_nXQp
Yes, when I read the article, I was surprised to see that Jonathan was still pushing that false narrative that Tel Aviv fans were the victims in Amsterdam.
I think that line was deliberate from Liew, and very well done too. Highlighting the fuss over Ajax, empty seats and then two footballers being murdered with barely a murmur
Unjustifiable if genuinely genocidal states like Turkey or China are also allowed to compete. And Palestinians have 'always' liked sport? Really? Since when? Their self-invention in 1964? Read some history, Jonathan.
Finally a thoughtful article on the subject from a major sports outlet. Hope the "sports journalists" who have been dodging it for so long for whatever reason read it and feel ashamed
News may be a blunt tool of social change (in the interest of its corporate owners), but it's time to take a stand against antisemitism | Yasha Harari
Using sports to spread lies about Israel while ignoring real human rights abusers and nations who've done real genocides, is telling.

But you don't have to be Einstein to work out what most Guardian columnists are about on the conflict.
And apologies to any Guardian devotees offended by me mentioning a Jew - Albert Einstein 🙂
I support the complaints of many Jewish groups made to the Guardian.
I agree with the parody site that people like Jones whip up the conditions for Amsterdam-style Jew hunts
Considered opinion.
Best wishes.
It will be refreshing to read an article from a Guardian columnist that doesn't whip up Jewish prejudice or hatred.
Thank you.
[I'm used to seeing Owen Jones's followers post memes of Adolf Hitler and Nazi swastikas, and other appalling stuff.]
