That short article was only somewhat true. What it left out was that Finland tried to ask for arms help from the Allies several times but UK blocked aid because they were on short supply fighing Hitler, and also didn't believe Finland would survive. So Finland was like Ukraine, but no help.
Until Hitler offered arms, ammo and allyship. Finland didn't actually sign the allyship and instead opted to cooperate instead with no intention to ally with Hitler (Finns aren't aryans after all). Later in the war Finland fought to drive off nazis in the Lapland wars.

Yes they did. My grandma and her sister (my late mothers aunt) both served in 'Lotta' named after Lotta Svärd. Most of them worked as nurses, information chains etc. Some even took up arms and rifles to help bolster the troops. One of the great success stories we are thankful for our War Veterans!
In 2015 Marine Corps said that including women in combat "enhanced decision-making in the field and fewer disciplinary problems". Two weaknesses we see in the Russian military.
