Tho' interesting this lacks historical perspective.
For almost the whole of human history the vast majority did not write & not just the poor.
In Greco-Roman culture it was considered work only fit for slaves. Somehow that didn't stop the great poetry, philosophy, history etc etc from being created.
I think it's a good practice to keep a personal journal. Not only does it keep your writing skills up to par -- it can be healthy to express emotions kept inside your brain for so long.
I think I am one of very few. I handwrite a lot at the very least 2 pages a day at work. My cursive handwriting is passable at best (IMO) simply bc I want others to be able to read & not ask questions so I do tend to use blocks! 😬😖
I think so in a way, not necessarily the ability but the will. I still write some stuff by hand but after about 10 sentences, my hand starts to ache as it's no longer used to it.
While I was taking an exam which required writing by hand, I noticed it wasn't very easy to cut-paste/rearrange and delete part of the text I had just written for one hour 🤔😂😂

So don't.
Easy eh?
One for work & one at home. Takes a great weight off the brain.
That is why they have to stop you.
