This is the way it’s always been, why does it take until now to be highlighted? From anyone working a burger van to cleaning up the site afterwards is liable for exploitation. You’ve got volunteers working for free entry, whilst the promoters earn millions for 3/4 days work.
The events scene is pretty challenging to work in. The industry relies heavily on people who love events (and coffee) and get paid an okay day rate to manage and deliver the event. After that it's mainly zero contacts doing the ugly work. Even your most prestigious events use this model.
