Ah that's a sad one, a real icon and symbol of a significant time in British culture and amongst all the froth and hubub that surrounded her, there were some achingly beautiful records.
Sad to hear. She was 1 of the more interesting artists & Loved her colab with Metallica on 'The memory remains'. a fan favourite & permanent fixture on the bands set list.
Marianne Faithfull's passing at 78 marks the end of an era for British pop. Her resilience, overcoming addiction and homelessness, cemented her as a cultural icon. Famous for her haunting voice and bold spirit, she collaborated with The Rolling Stones, Metallica, and Jean-Luc Godard.
Yes to all of the above, but given the sweetness of “As Tears Go By” her resurgence in 1979 with Faithfull growling out “Why D’ya Do It” from the classic ‘Broken English’ was just so satisfying.
A true icon and a force of nature. I saw her perform live and it was INCREDIBLE. See you in heaven darling, you can finally get rid of Michelangelo’s vision! XO
