Trump has more than adequately demonstrated his understanding of global political, societal, commercial and military credentials on the global strange.
Trump doesn’t think or reason things thru. He has knee-jerk reactions that lead to simple, feel-good solutions that make no sense once you put any thought into them. This is compounded by his not reading. He responds to pictures & simplified charts only. He’s all show & no substance.
You don’t honestly think what’s happening is working do you? How is an American factory worker ever going to earn the same wage as one in Vietnam, China or Mexico? How is destroying the federal civil service in a few weeks or months going to bring down the cost of living?
A notable rise in inflation, with January witnessing the largest monthly increase since mid-2023. Higher costs in used cars, auto repairs, healthcare, and notably, egg prices due to avian flu. Factors such as trade wars, and labor deportations are contributing to inflationary pressures.
The Federal Reserve has slowed interest rate hikes, which may be keeping demand high. Investors are uncertain about future Fed actions, leading to market volatility.
And then the global pressures that other countries have been facing since Covid but are now coming out of.
Recent trade wars and tariffs have increased import costs, making goods more expensive.
• Deportations of workers in key industries are also reducing labor supply, further driving up prices.
Hundreds of lawsuits about the constitutionality of DOGE and the Exec orders. 7 prosecutors resigning in one day rather than obeying directives from DOJ to dismiss corruption charges.
What you’re missing is the idea that Elon Musk can cut US expenditures by that much that quickly. Cuts to services are not inherently a good and necessary thing. Gutting public health agencies in the middle of a bird flu problem that is spreading And increasing food costs is obviously not wise.
Manufacturing jobs was the subject of this Op Ed so it makes sense to comment on factory workers and the reasoning for implementing tariffs. And do you honestly view the last month as a harbinger of stability and economic growth? It’s chaos. Please explain what’s next.
The guardian op Ed is about tariffs encouraging the growth of manufacturing jobs when in reality it is a consumer tax on goods. Bringing manufacturing jobs back to the US is the stated point of tariffs. But as I said, it neglects the difference in wages between China and the US.
There is plenty of evidence. His funding freeze for US aid, for example, has already essentially wasted the better part of a year's budget, more if he doesn't fix it immediately. It's like stopping a production line. You don't just throw a wrench in. You have to wind it down. He threw a wrench in.
It is as credible as
When confronted with the claim that the USAID grant in question was for a different Gaza, one in Mozambique, for anti-HIV and anti-TB programs rather than condoms, Musk responded by admitting that maybe “some of the things that I say will be incorrect and should be corrected.”
With the US — notably the chump administration — attempting to sell “supremacy” to a global audience that is 82% non-“white,” China (and some others like India) will likely have a loud voice and high platform when speaking to that 82% . . . and it WILL be the US that will be punished.
so let me get this straight: decades of austerity and tax breaks for billionaires, no infrastructure spending, zero policy growth, precarious low wage jobs and, checks notes, China is to blame?
Blame your elites.
You can't see it because they own the media and tell you what to believe.
How much of the US investments are going to manufacturing industry? Isn’t like 95% going to AI, SW, Finance and medtech?
Which is great, since the ROI is by far better.
Comparing the US in the late 1940 and most of the 50s with the US now competing with rebuilt Asian and European countries is forgetting that we had no invasions or even effective bombings on our mainland during WW 2 (a couple of fire balloons got through).
So the US didn't have wrecked factories and high casualties to recover from compared to China, Japan, or most of Europe. The UK had rationing into the 1950s. In the US, we were better off than most of the world because we'd been spared bombing runs against our industrial cities.
China was quite civilized when Europe was barbaric. Switzerland is among the countries that have signed free trade agreements with it. China has a mixed economy and social safety nets, and no one without previous political experience at local levels gets promoted to higher levels.
Can someone please put this toddler back in his playpen with Leon? Turn on the electric fence this time. If that doesn’t work, I’m not opposed to euthanasia either.

Trump is thinking!
What a befuddled old man!
Oups! And then just continue.
Bit like watching evolution in reverse.

It's not credible journalism - it's desperate propaganda and sour grapes.
And Hats off to Trump and Musk for exposing the dangerous Wizard of Oz ideology of the "progressive" Left.
It's possible that Trump may be a disaster, but there's no evidence of that yet.
And I doubt you are that altruistic that US factory workers are a real concern to you.
Is your suggestion that Inflation is solely down to Trump's actions in the last four weeks?
And then the global pressures that other countries have been facing since Covid but are now coming out of.

But isn't the overall purpose of DOGE a good thing? To save US taxpayers up to £1 trillion?
What am I missing?
And I haven't see anything in the last month to suggest what you claim.
Quite the opposite, in fact.
This bed-wetting hysteria from the Guardian is ludicrous.
And if Trump fails the US people can vote him out?

They are winning - against the world and remnants of civilization.
Today and tomorrow.
