Trade deficit is mostly a BLESSING !
•A larger U.S. trade deficit tends to support stock markets in U.S. trading partners, as they benefit from higher exports.
•U.S. stock markets can benefit from a trade deficit if domestic consumption is strong, but risks arise …
•The relationship is not linear,
That isn't what environmentalists have ever advocated. We need to use less energy: just switching fossil fuel cars for individual electric cars isn't the answer. We need governments with joined up solutions,as Greens have been offering for decades. As big business interests rule this won't happen.
The austerity solution (use less energy) is very hard to sell.
2) Decarbonising energy production is a much easier path; we get newer, cleaner, and better cars, we get rid of oil and coal, and we modernise industry.
As the article says, we need to come up with a strategy that works.
It's not either/or, it's both and all.
Lower energy bills, warmer low carbon homes, cheap accessible transport and no pollution arent "austerity" nor a hard sell.
The only people benefiting from subsidies are fossil fuel corporations, huge property developers and Elon Musk. At the expense of us.
It‘s an interesting and thought-provoking article that unfortunately starts with a false claim: we haven‘t officially passed the 1.5°C goal. It’s virtually impossible to stay below, but it‘s not passed yet.
The US, specifically Trump/GOP are destroying climate progress, destroying planet earth, destroying American Democracy and destroying the truth. And this is not hyperbole! Its overt, in front of our eyes! Wake Up America before it's too late!
This may be a way to win public opinion (community ownership of renewables would also help) but the problem of corporate interests ruling governments would need to be addressed to see real change.

I want to launch them into the sun.
Greens would've been up in arms; Wall Street would've loved it..
Electrification of transport is a fantastic capitalist opportunity to create wealth and provide jobs.

..WITHOUT productive NECESSITY, WITHOUT INTEREST for society and the population with the effect of WORSENING climate change
The essential FUNCTION of WORK is SUBMISSION, not PRODUCTION
