The government can put up all the money it wants, but unless it fixes teaching teachers are going to keep on quitting, and there will be no new teachers to take their places.
It's honestly a mystery to me why that would happen
As a British qualified teacher myself that works in Sweden with 30% less teaching hours for the same pay, with more respect from pupils, parents and management and a healthy work life balance, I can't think of a single reason why this would be.
No shock considering the working conditions and stagnant pay that teachers have had to deal with for the entirety of Conservative government. Recruiting thousands more sounds good in theory but Labour needs a strategy to better retain teachers and stem the flow of them leaving the profession.
The government needs to pay teachers more money and society needs to pay them more respect after the last government and right-wing media were contemptuous towards the profession
Don't we know it: usually 2 out of 5 lessons a day taught by a supply teacher, often 3 out of 5 if you count substitute teachers (e.g. maths teacher taking a geography class) at my kid's school. Hoping it's because they put focus on GCSE years...
And the cost!
Mostly understaffing meaning children can not be properly cared for. No mitigations for viral infection, bullying management systems especially for sickness, some staff delegating high and unnecessary workloads so they can pass through management training and reach top jobs. Bullying.
My prediction for those that teach, high levels of disability with post viral illness. Having to return to family home, forcing their parents into second jobs and reducing their ability to save for retirement.

Not very smart algorithms, though, as I'd make a terrible teacher🧐😂

Here's one ex teacher who is not being missed.
But when a profession doesn’t directly make capital, it becomes impossible to keep in a capitalist system. Even if the job is essential to the society
