The least democratic & most centralised system of local government set to become more centralised & even less democratic...
This local government plan is absolutely horrific...
I thought this was him de-privatizing control of the NHS? Which seems like a good thing in my experience working in both private and public medical systems.
Ending NHS makes no sense especially if AI is to replace human beings in health care with 'silly' claims of money saving(not for doc's purses)! No AI cares for human life like human Drs seen withpast experiences of AI ORDERING RELEASE OF 'SERIOUSLY ILL' IC UNIT PATIENTS WITH NURSES OPPOSING 'FIRED'!
Why? Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland all have NHS under direct devolved Gov control. It’s only England that gave their NHS independence & was plundered by private companies as a result.
Have you read the complete article? It's about Rayner's plans - massively increasing council bureacracy at a time when swingeing cuts are being made to disability benefits and to the civil service. And councils are struggling to cope. Seems bonkers to me.
The issue with Council funding is complex. No ring fencing for specific issues like mental health or disability issues, so it depends on the pet issues of local councils where they invest or don’t.
But unless Rayner has come up with a budget for all this councils are going to have to find the money somehow, and so many are finding it hard enough to meet the demands in their areas.
I’m not defending Rayner at all. But having worked at Scottish Gov reviewing mental health provision I can tell you that each Local Authority are laws unto themselves with widely different priorities regardless of their block funding.
No I confess I didn’t. The chaos in Englands health & social care is really bad- I’ve worked both in NHS England & Scotland. The services here in 🏴 are so much better, there’s no comparison really.
Democracy was slashed to put Starmer in power. The moment he was in charge of the Labour Party he started slashing democracy there. It's a tragedy he was elected PM.
Labour continuing RW Tory initiative ….Free ports / SEZs under the guise of devolution ?
Greater Lincolnshire deal near same as Tory plan ( Grimsby Live )
Councils had few weeks over Xmas to decide to combine or hold elections .
Westminster can over ride local planning decisions .
Power grab
The language of “blockers” is familiar here in Tasmania where the premier and some key Ministers like to call anyone who questions or disagrees a “blocker” and creating divisions in our community. They love to use this emoji 💪
I would like to know what’s going on I know that’s rich coming from an American but at least trump had a crazy ass villain arc this guy just appeared out of no we’re am I missing something
Absolutely. None of this is about saving money or making things work well. It's a blatant power grab.
The NHS needs more money not more reorganisation.
Cutting jobs while penalising the unemployed is cruel and stupid.
In Cumbria, the unitary reorganisation cost millions with no extra funding.
Far too much NHS funding in England is soaked up by NHS England that was set up by Lansley & has been a much criticised disaster with its extra layers of expensive bureaucracy.
