Sorry, but no. Every effort to “protect children” from “online threats” just results in erasing queer kids and their access to resources. And that actually does lead to self-harm and suicide.
I really hate this trend of tying new laws to recent tragedies. It enables those of malicious intent to brand legitimate objections to the proposed law as insensitive or not wanting to address the harm, and stifles important debate about complex subjects. And it is deeply unfair to the bereaved.
