Combination of poor parenting and lack of government support has left many generations of teenagers feeling helpless and disenchanted about their lives!
I see your point. But still: running with fascists will not improve their situation. It’s this vulnerability that these vultures exploit. And Labour should realise that and act accordingly.
Oh aye, to be clear I’m not saying this is a good thing, the world is going to hell in a handcart & with the liberal centre either doing nothing or being actively complicit, well…🔥🌍
Tony Blair converted to Roman Catholicism after leaving office. I never cease to be amazed by the sheer number of people ignorant of that fact. Although fewer in number, there are those who believe that Mrs. May is also a Catholic. She is; an Anglo-Catholic, not a Roman Catholic. Key word: Roman.
He would have been leader if he didn’t perform the weird little Tory about-face he did in the leadership contest that Corbyn won. I fear he might have shown his true colours a bit there.
I think it was more a case of a load of Tories flooding the Labour membership with the express purpose of electing Corbyn who they viewed could never win an election. Even so, he got close.
Unacceptable enough to leave the party that is inflicting this on all of us (plus complicity in the genocide in Gaza and bombing of Yemen) or maybe not that unacceptable?
Now he's 'fixed' the buses, perhaps this can be his next crusade? His party wrecked the education system in the 1960s in order to create legions of uneducated children who'd grow up believing that only Labour could save them. A lie a day keeps the Tories away, and keeps Labourites cosy in ermine.
Invest in youth services, youth clubs, youth mentors. Increase police on the beat. Look at the pathways young people have. Work with employers to create opportunities for all.
Grassroots long term. Gov pulled the rug from under them. Locally we shouldn’t have let them.
Make all parents legally responsible for their children till they are 18. Your 14 year old is out at 2 in the morning with a knife you and the absent father are going to jail
Bullshit! The country is the sixth richest nation in the world. Take the scales from your eyes and actually look at what she is doing! Taking money from those who have the least to assuage the grifting twats in Canary Wharf and her landlord cosplaying mates on the HOC benches!
Thank fuck I'm not. Beancounters are the reason our country's government seems to think a nation's finances are the same as a household!
Here's a hint: they're not!
Factcheck wealth distribution and explain why the wealthiest minority (<%5 of the population) own almost everything and are getting richer and richer while everyone else (>95%) are getting poorer and poorer. It's the system that's broke, not the economy.
I agree with most of his thesis, but his understanding of 'economy' is limited. It's not just about numbers and flawed equations. Society is all about genuine investment, in terms of cooperation and equity; not making money on faux investments then distributing it better so people can buy houses.
It's not just NEET. It's a decade long failure in SEN. It's a decade long pushing of landlord rights over tenants forcing rents into the stratosphere. It's basically an entrenchment of the policies of Austerity and misery.
What is needed is Leadership. Leadership with genuine interest in the well-being of today's youth. Starmer has demonstrated he is not that person. What is needed in Leadership is Trust,Knowledge & Commitment. Starmer has failed in all Manifesto Election promises & should be required to Step-down.
#andyburnham is arguing that England has an education system designed for some but not all young people. Taken him a long time to notice. Did he not see #michaelgove the educational vandal at work? Guess not.
Just the one generation? Where i live jo s have been flowing out of the towns for over 50 years now. Less and less jobs, can get the new skills to get a job, companies wont train you to get up the ladder, cant get housing, living hand to mouth on our knees.

No wonder why the kids are increasingly turning to the far right…
The key is to tackle the despair at source, which if anything Labour are making worse.
Not just in education but in safety, leisure, arts, sport, or just being a valued part of society. Not to mention access to housing, Brexit etc.
What kind of future is that, not just for them but for the country?
Unacceptable enough to leave the party that is inflicting this on all of us (plus complicity in the genocide in Gaza and bombing of Yemen) or maybe not that unacceptable?
Of course, when I graduated I was saddled with debt and dumped into a recession ravaged economy that has never recovered.
Still, at least I got to enjoy that sense of optimism in childhood.

I quite like Publius' Anacyclosis Cycle, a systemic development on ideas from Plato and Aristotle.
