This began as a different game called Heretic. It was going to be inspired by my upbringing within a cult and explore that very unique type of isolation. It's such an oddball experience though that I had trouble conveying it well, but there's still some DNA from Heretic in Occultpunk.

My current big project is Occultpunk. It's a TTRPG where you play as magical dissidents in an urban (though not necessarily modern) fantasy city. It's a game about thwarting fascists and building community, featuring a unique (to me, anyways) dice resolution and combat system. It's neat.

For starters, one of the archetypes is just literally called The Heretic. It's an option that embodies lost faith in an institution - focused on the occult, which is far less demonic than your faith made it seem. That faith is a 'destructive power' you can shape to your tastes as a player.
And then there's the stats, which are directly modeled to run counter to the expectations I grew up in as part of a cult.
Obedience -> Audacity
Purity -> Blasphemy
Godliness -> Humanity
Ignorance -> Luminosity
Surveillance -> Secrecy
This game might be a little pretentious
