I interviewed a DACA recipient recently who has told her four and nine-year-olds what to do if she and her husband don’t come home. They’ve set up a power of attorney for their kids.

Yeah, I recently told someone that if they want to help:

1. Help them get an attorney.

2. Set up a plan to take care of of their minor kids if they are deported.

3. Figure out where they would go if they are deported.

This is going to a be a terrible reality for a lot of families.

I’ll post the piece when it comes out in a couple of weeks, but she says the same. Have all your papers together, a plan for paying your mortgage, a contact list for supporters. She works for an immigration nonprofit so she’s prepared, but so many people aren’t.

I remember when DACA was proposed, there was great concern that the applicants were exposing their status to the government.

DACAs did it because they had faith and decided that America wouldn't round them up. 💔
