Bad Sisters, Slow Horses, Nobody Wants This, Somebody Somewhere, Elsbeth, Queer Eye, Mythic Quest, Dark Matter was 🤷🏼♀️ but I couldn’t stop watching it.
A few I haven’t seen mentioned: Get Millie Black (much more than just another cop show that I expected), The Sticky (Canadian maple syrup heist), and The Newsreader on AMC (full of 1980s nostalgia, but Australian).
And if you need some lighthearted teen silliness, XO, Kitty.
one of my faves of the last decade is What We Do in Shadows (vampire mockumentary by Taika Waititi & Jemaine Clement). Over-the-top ridiculous and hilarious
I’ve been watching Interior Chinatown. The only reason I knew it existed is I randomly came across a trailer for it. I haven’t seen any other mention of it anywhere but it’s a weird exploration of the police procedural.
Have you already seen Mo on Netflix, Mo Amer’s series? Tonally it’s a bit all over the place, kind of ricochets between slapstick and direly serious, but so many elements really spoke to me. It’s a wonderful depiction of Houston that felt familiar to me in DC. And the funny parts are really funny.
Funny Woman (period piece about early British sitcoms)
Person of Inteterest (from 2012, problematic yet also prescient about the survelliance state)
The Serpent Queen
goin ham on Kamen Rider right now. Personal recommendation is Kuuga, which has the most likable protag and really hits the aughts-tv nostalgia buttons since it's from 2000
Season one of Andor, even if you’re not a Star Wars person. It’s kinda like “On Tyranny” if it wore dystopian clothes and had heists & prison breaks & Fiona Shaw & Andy Serkis worked into the manifesto.
barry on hbo. 12/10 show. about a hit man who is trying to quit and live his life for himself and he gets into acting. bill hader, stephen root, henry winkler. truly iconic. very funny and sad and lots of wtf moments
Many folks have suggested The White Lotus to me lately. But I admittedly have not watched it and know nothing about the show. It’s supposedly really great, though.
"We Are Lady Parts" (Only two short seasons, but sooo good)
Also, Lincoln Lawyer, Matlock, Dark Winds, Perry Mason (2020 with Matthew Rhys -- how many TV shows include Bonus March, Ludlow Massacre, and more?) -- and for timely movies, The Old Oak by Ken Loach.
Not new, but relatively new to me: I’ve been working my way through old school/original Doctor Who on Tubi. Currently in the era of the 4th Doctor. Once it gets to the 1970s, I really started to make associations with current events, sometimes eerily synchronistic to daily current events
Not new, but have you watched The Orville? I was surprised by how much I liked the series. Good characters, good writing. Explores social issues in a very Trek-like way, with much more sensitivity and nuance than I would have thought possible by the dude who created Family Guy.
Reacher unfortunately lol jk, but yea reacher. Common Side Effects on Max, a drama cartoon Mike Judge is doing about a woman working at a pharmaceutical company who happens to know a guy from high school with a medical breakthrough and she wants to steal it to give it to her boss for her career.

Lower Decks
It is not new, but it is fantastic ✨.
I'm streaming it somewhere else, but it looks like episodes can be found on YT. Hans My Hedgehog was always one of my favorites.

I feel like he eventually gets added to any sci-fi/fantasy cast
my favoirite fictional mad scientist.
Person of Inteterest (from 2012, problematic yet also prescient about the survelliance state)
The Serpent Queen
The Pitt is turning my heart into warm goo again and again. Medical drama.
Rewatching Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
