My father in law was in the RAF too and my dad was in the Canadian Armed Forces both during WWll - they’re both gone too and I wonder what they would have to say about the world.
I get that this is trying to be whitty but it wasn’t “blindly following” They were beaten and under the point of a gun, marched off to their deaths
The blindly following were the German people themselves who either believed in Nazism or were trying to save themselves and family from persecution
So true! My paternal Grandfather & his brother were at Pearl Harbor & my Father-in-law was at liberation of Buchenwald. They'd all be horrified at what is happening.
My grandfather talked very little about his participation in WWII but what he did describe was horrific. Why would we think going back to what we fought against is right??
I get the average Canadian may not be following closely but ALL politicians should be well versed on what is at stake here. Their silence is acceptance, the time to fight will be soon past us and I think they are in survival mode with hopes to maintain position within the new political realm.

So sad to watch it happen and not be able to stop it!
