I think, whatever unforced mistakes she made, the distance thing was an underrated (?) obstacle. If she tries to distance herself too much, she would have to criticize his policies, which seems disloyal. Hard enough if he was at the end of his 2nd term, but gnarly since he was “voluntarily” bailing

i think you're right, in the sense that i don't think there was a ton she could've done. one, because i don't think she wanted to, & two, because she was basically handpicked to take over three months before the election. you can only really establish distance with a primary, & she didn't have that

Whoever the Ideal Candidate would have been in this situation (I don’t have anybody in particular in mind, use whatever criteria you want), they’re getting 29 days notice before the convention that Biden isn’t running. The least that anybody has ever had before is 5 months. I looked it up.
