my local NBC station is pushing out 9.113 Mbps of MPEG-2 video. Peacock is pushing out 10Mbps of HDR HEVC (or SDR h264, depending on what device you have, but the same bitrate) video.

no. my ATSC3 is encrypted, though the HDR on ATSC3 stations is "fake" (it's the standard NBC feed with HDR added on top)

Late on this, but if people are using an Apple TV, they might need to force HDR through their TV OS settings. Peacock doesn’t play nice with Apple’s Match Range function

Dang... not sure what the issue is, but I'm not getting HDR on Peacock, whether via my LG A2's built-in smart TV app or casting to my Chromecast from my phone. Still, definitely looks better than via our Fios cable box!

it's 1080p60 HDR at a higher bitrate than your local station is pushing out 1080i30 SDR MPEG-2. Yes, it is better quality, by a margin of about 4x.
