Left and right are economical concepts. Humanism is a different scale. There are socialist And communist countries that committed and committing genocide. Btw, genocide is a well defined term that should never be used lightly.
the overton window pushes the entire party to the right. there are two republican parties now. no left at all. liberalism is branded by msm and neocons as left but its just left of where they are. its all right wing policy.
The Overton Window is misleading and leads people to thinking these terms are dynamic - it's not. There is a clear definition of where the center is, and it isn't relative - the divide begins at opposition to capitalism. If you need a point of reference, Bernie Sanders is in the middle.
People who call liberals left wing are liberals and people who are unquestionably right wing, people who don't are usually anticapitalist. Definitions of what is left/right will always depend on the politics of the person talking.
Liberal here.
I never attack the Left unless they deserve it, because I am the Left.
I ALWAYS support the oppressed and defend against apartheid, fascism, and genocide.
Like most things, the American definition of these terms is warped into something most people wouldn't recognize.
The "Left" is a spectrum defined by its opposition to capitalism and support for wide distribution of resources. Liberalism is, by its definition, a capitalist ideology.
In the US, Liberal has been bastardized into a general term, but its actual definition and history still defines how liberals behave. That history is deeply entrenched in capitalist ideology. As such, liberals are not, cannot, and will never be a leftist ideology.
Progressives are the center, as they are agnostic to the system itself - so long as the system serves the general public, they don't care what the system is. That's why they're considered centrist, at best.
Leftism is an anti-capitalist ideology while liberalism is not. They are often grouped together because, in the U.S, they are both technically left of center.

We need to go way past liberal.
You are actually all below the center.
