Surely some of the adaptations would mean significant change to the property. Changing a bathroom into a wet-room and widening doorways are not trivial. Some properties could not be adapted. The tenant should move to a more suitable property. Who pays?

Thank you @carladenyer.bsky.social I have successfully challenged private landlords in the past to allow grab rails! Our ability to adapt is hampered by funding delays and conflicts in legislation. This is causing increases in #socialcare costs and poorer health outcomes.

Makes total sense. Most adaptions would be universally acceptable to both disabled and non-disabled people. Wet rooms, accessible sockets, wider door frames,easy window opening etc... lifetime homes

Oh amazing news! It's so so needed. I've seen a lot of issues through my work over the years. Landlords often decline even quite minor adoptions suggested by nhs trusts or social services. It's always seemed like discrimination towards disabled people to me. Fingers crossed it goes through 🤞

Thankyou! But will this incl social housing as I've been in social housing for 28yrs & one thing I found frustrating is the difficulty to get disability adaptions whether by them or do myself.
