Main problem with this movie is that the last act is kind of a slog. The first two thirds are a surival story about learning to be friends with your enemy, as you have a lot more in common than you'd think.

The last third is a standard action/rescue piece, but it feels repetitious and sluggish.

If the third act had been better paced and executed, it would've been an all-time classic instead of just an above average 80s sci-fi movie.

Could you imagine a movie like this being made today? Nobody would want to touch this. Or they'd turn the last act into the whole movie b/c 'action!' XD

I've seen Enemy Mine two or three times before, and I always remembered loving a lot of it, but feeling it fell off hard after a very key scene at the end of the second act which I won't spoil here. I think a lot of people would probably agree, as Gossett Jr. is really the main draw of the film.

Really good movie when I have little I was at the Bavaria Film Studios in Munich where they had some of the original set which you could walk through
