I've seen so much variation of:

"Switch 2 specs need to measure up to Steam Deck"
"Why would I buy 3rd Party games on Switch when there is Steam Deck"

This puts into perspective how big the PC Handheld universe is.

I have a Steam Deck and it's great, but the Switch doesn't require an online connection in the same way and physical media is available if you like to own your games. The battery on the Switch is also a million times better. There's no competition, there's room for both.

I will admit, ever since I got my Steamdeck I've stopped buying third party on my Switch. They run better, they're released earlier, and a lot of times cheaper than on the Switch. I would imagine it would probably be the same on Switch 2.

I own both. The switch for the nintendo exclusives and the deck for games I know won't run well on switch but still rlly want to play (on handheld). If switch 2 can run 3rd party games on par with the deck, I might just sell my deck

I respect modest consoles. So many people I know own a Steam Deck. Some both a Switch AND a Steam Deck.

Nintendo 64 was certainly no PlayStation, but it was modestly successful and provided unforgettable experiences.

Exactly this. 90% of Switch owners don't even know the Steamdeck exists. It's an enthusiast device. And it's fantastic as that. But Nintendo and Valve are focusing on entirely different groups of customers.

Not having to deal with the Switch's high markup on games (and actually getting consistently decent sales) and getting better performance than a decade old laptop specs more or less.

The thing about Steam Deck is there are other portable PCs in the same category. So really we need to try to look at sales of the "deck" form factor to get a better idea of it's growing.

Funny enough though, a lot of the Steam Deck owners I know also have a Switch.
