Btw, Ralph Baric has LONG publicly said research in the Wuhan lab was risky, their biosafety inadequate, and their “luck may run out”.

He never said “lab leak” was a conspiracy—the opposite.

They’re still doing risky research on pathogens with pandemic potential in BSL-2 conditions. And Cell is publishing it. See their paper.

Yes, the topic of biosafety and the plausibility of risky research igniting a pandemic has been weaponized by bad-faith actors.

But indefensibly circling the wagons and pretending that there’s no there there EMPOWERS the bad-faith group AND makes all less safe.

Not so sure about that. From the CCP's perspective, COVID-19 worked out pretty well for China relative to the rest of the world. I'm NOT suggesting they'd /intentionally/ create another pandemic (that's nuts), but they probably aren't as motivated to avoid another one as western countries are.
