Trump is privately warning CEOs of automakers not to hike prices when his tariffs hit. This blows up Trump's lies about the tariffs, because it shows he knows they'll push up costs in the US, and knows "other countries" don't pay them!

Why would he want to cede EVs to the Chinese or any other country? China knows they’re the future, which is why they’re all in. America should be subsidizing battery production and recycling research. But yeah, let’s threaten automakers, ICE or EV. Makes total sense.

Cars are made in other countries because labor is cheaper. So if these tariffs create American jobs as Trump says they will, labor costs will be higher. Thus the cost of cars will be higher. Apparently Trump's parents never explained to their little boy that you can't have your cake and eat it too.

I can see why he doesn't care about automakers but his prime demographic is the card dealer. When I think of the typical Trump voter I think of a car salesman. He's screwing them over big time. It will take about three months for them to really feel the pain of the tariffs.
