Not really. Just another "Artist's Conception" of a black hole. What ever happened to "truth in advertising". This is as bad if not worse that the AI astronomy crap circulating. So there!
I should qualify my response. At best this image could be a computer simulation from NASA. As such, that fact should have been stated. The poster leaves the impression that this is an actual image which it is not. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chhcwk4-esM
You wouldn't see him get sucked in. You'd see him slow down and then freeze in time at the event horizon until any photons coming from him would slowly dissipate into red shift and then nothing.
He would observe the universe outside the black hole moving much faster before being de-atomized.
Why does it look like there are "Saturn rings" around it? Shouldn't the rings be circling around the "hole"? I understand abt accretiondisk but this looks offset. Is that clear as mud? If I could have added 2+2 w/o using both hands I would have been an astronomer.
Oh, wait, sorry about that - this is actually a picture from the near future, when we finally make first contact with intelligent extraterrestrial life, they meet our world leaders, and promptly Death Star the Earth for the good of the remainder of the universe. Sorry for the confusion.
I am always bothered by these artists renditions of black holes. They never include the red/blue shift that must be there Orbits near the event horizon have to be nearing the speed of light. Someone need to do a simulation that includes the dopler shift of light, and simulates the emission lines.
Scientifically correct but we often have to enhance astronomical images because a lot of the “action” is outside the visible spectrum of our insignificant human eyes.
I'd still like to see at least one rendition of what a black hole would look like to the naked eye (ignoring the fact that if you were close enough to see the black hole that way, the radiation would kill you in seconds).
I see you've managed to capture a photographic representation of where all my hopes and dreams go. No chance we can claw some back is there? Stupid one-way event horizon.
Well even though we have had a picture of a black hole but will really don’t know what they look like. This just a impressions of what they may look like.
A Black hole us unable to be photographed & can only be inferred by its effect on the surrounding masses, so no, this is an Artists conception, most likely from the movie Interstellar...?? Here are NASA photos showing its effect, the black is simply for reference.....
One would think the average intelligent individual would know this by now, However I continue to be amazed at the lack of awareness current generations of young adults let slip from their mouths these days...??
Their momentum vs. earth’s gravity, satellites are still in earth’s atmosphere so it isn’t being expelled. a n/s orbit requires much more energy to maintain momentum to eventually tilt into a n/s orbit. A black hole n/s orbit is battling the gravity of the black hole and momentum of the e/w rotation
There is nothing wrong with rendered, accurate depictions based on mathematics and physics, but say it's a rendering...or the confused people will be up in arms.

There is a real “picture” of a black hole that is mostly beautiful only for astronomers:

1. Is this an actual photo of some sort, or a diagram as a friend claimed?
2. I'm unable to access the numerous reported Comments and don't see a support section; how can I view them please?
ChatGPT 4o: A black hole is an extreme warp in spacetime caused by intense gravity compressing matter beyond recognition.
It is a theory at best.
Where do you get your information from?
Bjork will already be there waiting ……blasting this on a 80s BOOMBOX. 🤣🫶🏻
