Sony's PSP is 20 years old today. Was always a big fan of this. Beautifully put together and powerful enough to run some seriously great games. I still have mine - although I converted it to run emulators so I could play old games on it. Fabulous machine! - ThreadSky

Bought an import JP PSP along with US copies of Ridge Racer and Wipeout Pure five months before the UK release. Loved it, it was resposible for getting me into Monster Hunter and Musou games. Brother has my original and my 3000 still works and was still my default pocketable system until recently.

I initially had the black PSP but later sold it and got a slim silver PSP that I still have to run PS1 emu's like FFVII. The Sony battery in mine bulged over time due that resulted me in buying a third party one.

I had the digital-only version, PSP Go. Absolutely loved it. Eventually sold it on eBay. Big mistake. I miss being able to play on it even now.

I was always blown away by just how great the PSP is - I expected it to be too big and use too much battery like the lynx, but I fell in love as soon as I held one in my hands

I do wish the vita had seen the same success... I love it even more, but the market didn't :(

Ha! Same here about the emulators! I never did end up updating the firmware, and I think in the end I played more Genesis and SNES games on it than PSP games. Which isn't to say titles like Lumines and Wipeout Pure weren't absolutely fantastic.

Damn, 20 years! I imported one from Japan and it was, like you say, a slick piece of hardware. Weirdly, I'm having a house clearance so I'm sure it's on my list to maybe see what I can get for it!

Love mine. The Locoroco and Patapon games are some of the finest on any platform ever. And yes, now with hacked firmware and speccy emulated it's ace. Is there a c64= equivalent?

Still have my launch day Japanese PSP. It was a daily device for me right up until this year when I got one of those Anbernic handhelds as I wanted to give my PSP a break. Such an awesome handheld.
