Looking into Kobo, has anyone done the research? I have built my library around my Kindle, but I'm seriously thinking of dumping it. How does Kobo work? Do they carry all new titles? How is their selection? Can I transfer books from Netgalley? Can I put any of my Kindle library on it? Thoughts??

you might try a Boox Palma. It is an android device, which means you get get any reading app on it, essentially allowing you to have a kindle app, kobo app, and if NG has an app, all on the same eReader. people love them.

In response to my question, I heard back: (edited) We are afraid the NeoReader does not support the books that are DRM LCP. you can try Adobe Digital Editions app from Google Play and use it to open the LCP-protected books. Or you can download the Kindle app and read books through the Kindle app.

I see that they also have ereaders. I've sent an inquiry to their customer service. I'll report back. Meanwhile. I need to figure out how to download all of my Kindle titles I haven't read.

I have the Boox Go 6 which feels more like paperwhite. The interface is not as slick as it could be, like more DIY but I do love having access to pretty much all my reading platforms in one device.

Thanks! There are so many Boox devices, I'm overwhelmed. Do they all have ability to download reading apps? The ereaders look nice - I like the 7" screen on the Page. What is the advantage of a Go6 compared to the other devices?

Same! I'm seriously considering getting a kobo but I'll still use my kindle for KU and kindle exclusives. But I am not happy with their direction.

There is the boox ereader. You can have kobo and kindle on there. But I think we are heading into the enshittification stage of ebooks. This is designed to lock you in. Publishers messed up when they did agency pricing because we had indie ebook stores and they got obliterated.

Yeah, it's not currently compatible, but they are supposedly working on it, and hopefully it will change soon.

when it did work, it was through Adobe Digital Editions, and I didn't like how it worked...I used my Kindle for NetGalley, though my Kobo is main ereader, b/c it was easier.

Thanks. So this is my issue. I want to stop using Kindle and buying kindle books. I LOVE my Paperwhite, but… however I’ve been looking for an ereader that is compatible with Netgalley that doesn’t rely on using a Kindle or the K app. I am not finding one.

yeah, I don't know much about anything but Kindle and Kobo...and I'm not sure if it's worth waiting to see what happens with this Kobo/NetGalley issue...no idea how long it will take.
